Tribute to Her Majesty the Queen

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

We would like to share our deep condolences with her family. Queen Elizabeth has guided and supported our country since 1952 and has been the solid foundation that we have honoured and respected.

We were honoured to be part of her Platinum Jubilee Celebrations earlier in the year and we thank her for her tireless service, she will be so greatly missed.

Rest in peace your Majesty.
1926 – 2022.

This week the Resuscitation Council (RCUK) has launched an innovative CPQR campaign, so that anyone with a mobile can quickly and easily become familiar with how to do cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use a defibrillator.

Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone at any time – and currently, less than 1 in 10 people in the UK survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

The heart-shaped CPQR code shown in the image below holds the information people need to know to save a life. Just scan the CPQR code for the current guidance or click HERE.

This is timely as the CRCG is in the process of arranging further awareness training for residents on this very subject and use of our Community Defibrillator. Information about our defibrillator can be found HERE.

Details of the consultation, which runs from Monday 22 August until Friday 30 September 2022 and Zoom presentation and Questions & Answers session on Monday 22 August 2022 can be found on the Chelmsford Garden Community Website:

Chelmsford Garden Community Council

The City Council has recently completed a Community Governance Review and the recommendations were approved at the Full Council meeting on 22nd March 2022. The recommendations will be implemented ahead of the city and parish elections in May 2023.

A formal legal order has now been completed for the creation of two new local councils, namely Chelmer Village Council and Chelmsford Garden Community Council, on 1 April 2023. To help smooth the transfer of responsibilities, two shadow councils have been created.

All Channels residents will, from 1st April 2023, sit in a newly created Chelmsford Garden Community Council.

More information, including those sitting on the Chelmsford Garden Community Shadow Council, can be found on the City Council Website.

Travel Plan Surveys

We have been advised that the survey company has put the wrong QR code on the leaflets that were delivered over the weekend, so the online survey we were directed to is not the one that we are supposed to complete.

As such, new leaflets will be delivered in the next few days so please disregard what you have received so far. We have been assured that the correct survey is short and easy to complete!

Original message from Transport Planning Associates:

In conjunction with Bellway Homes, Croudace Homes, Marden Homes and Home Group, Transport Planning Associates are co-ordinating a Travel Plan at the Channels development. This Travel Plan looks to promote sustainable transport for the residents at Channels.

During the week commencing 13th June 2022, Travel Surveys will be undertaken to understand existing travel patterns within Channels. As part of this process, each household will be asked to complete a short survey. This Travel Survey is designed to help us better understand your travel patterns, needs, and how we may be able to assist with your travel requirements. Therefore, to ensure your needs are considered, please fill out the Travel Survey by Friday 17th June 2022. Your comments and views are important to us so completion of the survey is crucial.

To say thank you for participating, all completed surveys will be entered into a prize draw to win a £50 Shopping voucher at Amazon. We appreciate all feedback and assure you that your answers will be kept confidential.

Thank you for your participation.
Kind regards
Laura Butcher | Assistant Transport Planner

Jubilee: 1 Day to Go!

It’s just 24 hours until we will kick off the weekend of Jubilee celebrations with the Beacon Lighting Ceremony in Channels Park.

Unfortunately we won’t be able to have live music as our leading singer, guitar player & entertainer (Dan Pierce) has been struck down with COVID and won’t be able to play any live music or lead the singing at 9.45pm when the beacon is lit tomorrow evening.

We will be playing the music at the appropriate time, and there will be lyrics sheets available so do have a listen, have a practice and do your best to sing along if you can tomorrow! The song lyrics and music can be found HERE.

There are only a few hours left to buy your Jubilee Raffle tickets online in advance if you are a Channels resident otherwise you will need to buy them tomorrow night in cash.

£2 per ticket or £6 per strip of 5 tickets
Raffle Draw in the Jubilee Marquee at Channels Park: 10.00pm on 2nd June

Don’t forget to bring your best decorated cakes along (rules here) and also make sure you take your painted rocks to the Royal Rock Row between 9am and 4pm tomorrow!

Have a last look at the Beacon Lighting Schedule. The weather forecast looks good so we look forward to seeing you tomorrow from 8pm 🙂

Jubilee: 1 Week to Go!

In 1 week, we will be opening the weekend of Jubilee celebrations with the Beacon Lighting Ceremony and the evening will include a Jubilee Raffle, a Cake Decorating Competition, a family Jubilee Trail, some craft activities for children and everyone singing ‘A Life Filled with Grace’ as our amazing Jubilee Beacon is lit.

There will be an ice-cream van on site for the evening, Dan will be playing his guitar in the Jubilee Marquee and all being well there will be someone balloon modelling for the younger attendees 🙂

Don’t forget you can buy your Jubilee Raffle tickets online in advance if you are a Channels resident and if you can’t make the raffle draw on the night, winners will now be allocated a prize at random 🙂
