Carols on The Green

It’s fair to say numbers were small for our Community Meetup last Friday so why not come and join us on Wednesday 22nd December from 6pm for mince pies and a singalong (on the green opposite the fountain) for a very Merry Channels Christmas!

Wrap up warm, bring a hot drink and your singing voice!

Community Meet Up

As it appears that numbers attending on Friday will be low, and as nobody has expressed an interest in joining the main CRCG Committee, we have decided that there is no benefit in holding an Annual General Meeting at this time. We will prepare an annual report, which will be circulated early in the new year, and we will look to hold an AGM at a later date.

Every resident is considered to be part of the Channels Residents Community Group however we do need a working management committee to coordinate and progress important projects such as the Defibrillator and the 2022 Jubilee Celebrations.

The room at the Community Centre has been booked, so please do come along for a chat and to get to know your local Channels community neighbours whilst having a cup of mulled wine and some light refreshments.

If there are any new rules regarding use of the Community Centre in light of the current COVID situation, we will update accordingly.

We look forward to seeing you on Friday from 7pm. Seasonal hats welcomed! πŸ™‚

Christmas Card Competition

Calling all artists young and not so young!

We are looking for someone to design our CRCG Christmas card again this year. Those who were with us last year will have received the Christmas card designed by Suki and we are looking for a new design for this year! πŸŽ„πŸ€©πŸŽ…πŸ»

Please create your design on a piece of A4 card or paper using whatever style you like… it just needs to be flat so it can be printed. πŸ‘πŸ» You can draw, paint, colour, collage… the choice is yours! πŸŽ¨βœοΈπŸ–

Just make sure to hand deliver your masterpiece to 85 Fairway Drive no later than Monday 22nd November. 🏠

Christmas Light Trail

It is so lovely to see the estate lit up when its dark! If you’d like to see all of the beautifully decorated houses then why not have a go at the Light Trail. The trail can be followed any time from today until 23rd December. The light bulbs on the map below πŸ’‘ show some of the decorated houses and the stars ⭐️ show where you will find a letter. Put all the letters together to create a festive word then enter the competition – more details on the map!

You can print the map yourself, screen shot the photo or save it to your phone or other device to follow as you walk. We are unable to provide printed maps this year. 😏

We will be having a community ‘Walkabout’ from 4.30pm on 20th December with ‘socially distanced’ carols round the Christmas tree from 5pm (please keep groups to 6 or less). Feel free to bring a hot drink along with you too as unfortunately we wont be able to serve any drinks or food this year as we have done in previous years.

The raffle will be drawn on 20th too and prizes distributed as soon after as possible so make sure to purchase any tickets by 8pm on 19th Dec to be included in this years draw.

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask!
Merry Christmas to you all from the CRCG 😊

Christmas Raffle!

We are holding our annual Christmas raffle but due to the current situation, we cannot sell tickets in person. Instead, tickets can be purchased via the Donate with Paypal button below:

Just make sure to add your initial and address as a note when paying so we can pop tickets through your door. If PayPal isn’t your thing you can put cash in an envelope with your name & address on the front, deliver to 85 or 89 Fairway Drive and we will pop tickets back through your door.

Tickets are only Β£1 per strip and can be purchased up until 19th December, the day before our Light Trail Walkabout on December 20th. Prizes will be drawn on that day and delivered soon after πŸ‘πŸ»

Profits from the raffle will go towards funding future events or buying items to enhance our estate such as lights for our lovely Christmas tree.

So far we have some lovely prizes with the top prize being a 2nd Generation Google Nest mini in Sky Blue. We also have a toy bundle, star necklace from Sophinity, wine and more… See the photos below πŸ™‚

We are still accepting donations for the raffle if anyone else would like to contribute, just let us know!

Christmas Event

Don’t forget our Christmas event is now just 1 week away! We have taken delivery of a large marquee (so who cares if it rains!) and our tree will be installed during the coming week.

We look forward to seeing you all on the communal green area between Eagle Rise & Aqua Verde from 3.00pm on Sunday 15th December πŸ™‚

Christmas at Channels!

With the festive season not that far away, the Community Group Social Unity Committee is working to bring something a little bit special to Channels again this year.

With the support of those working across the development, and at the Channels Estate, we will see the installation of a lit Christmas tree on the communal green area between Eagle Rise & Aqua Verde. All being well, we will also have a marquee erected (purchased with our grant) so that if the weather is as unkind as it was in 2018, the fun can continue!

We welcome you and your family to join us on Sunday 15th December from 3.00pm when the Christmas tree will be the focal point for festivities.

Plans are underway for fun and games, local business stalls, mulled wine, refreshments, a minced pie bake off competition, a raffle and most importantly a Christmas sing along!

If you want to get involved in assisting making our event a success, do get in touch via: www.Channels.Community/Xmas-Help

We look forward to seeing you all on the green from 3.00pm on Sunday 15th December πŸ™‚
